Hope Schools of Excellence was formed in 2006 by metro-Atlanta business woman, Brenda S Stinson, and her spouse, Joseph M Stinson, Jr.   In 2006, God blessed Mrs. Stinson in a dream to start a school.  Being an obedient servant, Mrs. Stinson resigned from her Information Technology management position and focused full time on the ground work to form a solid foundation for a 21st century school.  She chose the words "Hope" and "Excellence" to be part of the school's name, because Jesus Christ is our hope and because His name is excellent.  Hope Schools of Excellence was formed.

Mr. and Mrs. Stinson graduated from The Georgia Institute of Technology with degrees in Information and Computer Science. After working for 22 years in the field of Information Technology, they both knew from personal experience that there was a digital age divide between their community/country and other countries around the world.  In as much, Mrs. Stinson decided to partner with the Bill Gates schools, High Tech High, High Tech Middle, and Explorer Elementary, which are located in California, and are well known for their focuses on math, science, and engineering.  By partnering with these schools, HSE teachers receive training and credentialing in a methodology known as project based learning.

Since its beginning, HSE has grown to be more than just a school focused on math, science, and engineering.  The foundation continues to grow, as the focus has been modified to ensure that the school helps to develop a well rounded student.  Now, the school's focuses are Math, Science, Engineering, Leadership, and the Performing Arts.
