Middle School at Hope Schools of Excellence Middle school bridges the gap between Elementary School and High School. Sixth through 8th grade classes are a continuation of our focus on a college prep curriculum. In addition, our teachers help students to develop good organizational and study skills. Students are encouraged to use the scientific method of analyzing situations and effectively communicating their ideas. Computers are a part of the daily student life. This includes the incorporation of computers into the daily curriculum in all classes. All students have their own laptop computers. All students attend a dedicated computer lab at least 3 hours per week. In addition, each teacher is required to incorporate project based learning into their classes. Students can expect to have one or more hands-on-projects of learning activities on a weekly basis. These projects help students obtain a deeper understanding of subject matter. Standard coursework includes math, science, social studies, and language arts. Electives include Computer Lab, Arts, Physical Education, and foreign languages. AP classes are a standard for students in the subject areas of math, science, and language arts. Students change classes on a daily basis. Students can expect to participate in out-of-school programs established with business alliances. Students begin a shadowing program with companies that have formed an alliance with Hope. These alliances range from fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds, to law offices, to pediatricians. Middle School Curriculum 6th Grade 7th Grade 8th Grade
