Welcome to Hope Schools of Excellence. We are excited to offer a dynamic elementary, middle, and high school. Our high school will continue to expand one grade per year. In 2011, we will graduate our first high school seniors.
We are a STEM school. STEM schools focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. To ensure that computer technology is integrated in the learning process, each student has daily access to a laptop computer. A wireless, secure network has been implemented, which allows wireless access throughout our campus. Teachers incorporate computers in their daily instruction.
In addition, we have formalized computer labs for all students. All students are taught age appropriate computer lessons ranging from using the keyboard to HTML programming and designing websites. We are utilizing Project Based Learning (PBL), to facilitate the various ways that students learn. Our PBLs include topics such as engineering bridges, alternative energy, being a scientist, robotics, rocketry, archeology, medical science, finance, entrepreneurship, digital photography, oceanography, and more.
We are offering three (3) different foreign languages, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. Our foreign language teachers are fluent in their respective languages and have many years of teaching experience. We will continue to expand our foreign language offerings during the next school year. As a commitment to diversity, all students are required to take a foreign language each semester. Unlike the state of Georgia, foreign language remains one of our requirements for graduation.
We also require all students to take a performing arts class. Our students choose from band, orchestra, chorus, and drama.
We have a fantastic faculty lineup. Our teachers not only possess bachelors, masters, and PhDs, but also have a passion for teaching “outside of the box”. We are proud of our formal Physical Education program, which also includes health and nutritional education for all students. We have an indoor gymnasium, outdoor playing fields, and playgrounds. We are glad to offer numerous clubs, including robotics, reading, chess, etiquette, dance, along with traditional sports, such as football, basketball, baseball, swimming, and cheerleading.
To make sure that we are successful in our academic efforts, we have built a collaboration with the High Tech High (HTH) schools in San Diego, CA, which are referred to as Bill Gates’ model digital age schools. These schools have statewide chartering in California. Our teachers excel as they participate in HTH residencies throughout the year.
As an educational institution, our goal is to be a positive attribute to our students, community, county, state, and country. We want our area to be highly respected in the educational arena, which will lead to more business opportunities to our neighborhoods. We want to directly contribute to the future excellence of our society. In as much, we are excited about the business alliances that we have established locally, which are allowing our students to have real-world experiences in disciplines that they aspire to major in college.
